Duluth Huskies fall to Thunder Bay Border Cats
The Duluth Huskies threw it back for their home matchup against the Thunder Bay Border Cats on Friday at Wade Stadium. The Huskies honored their Duluth history by donning Duluth Dukes jerseys for the game and welcoming the Border Town Betties for “League of Their Own” night.
After splitting their road doubleheader with the Border Cats on Thursday, the Huskies were looking to take the lead on their home field on Friday.
Unfortunately, the Border Cats weren’t coming in without a fight.
In the bottom of the first inning the Border Cats broke away as Kyle Morrison shoots a bouncing drive through to center field leading Zane Skansi to home.
Border Cats would lead 2-0 until the top of the third inning when the Huskies would force their way onto the board after MJ Sweeny pops a fly out to center field. The ball would be caught but Cardell Thibodeaux would take the chance to steal home, making the score 2-1 Border Cats.
The Border Cats would solidify their lead in the fourth inning at 3-1 bases loaded, when Cole Ketzner would drill a ball straight to the wall, bringing all three other baserunners home.
In the end, the Huskies would fall 9-1 to the Border Cats.
