Two Bulldogs take home awards at NSIC Cross Country Championships

On Saturday, the University of Minnesota Duluth men’s and women’s cross-country teams took off in the NSIC Cross Country Championships.

The men’s team completed the day with a third-place team finish, with the fasted Bulldog time coming from fifth year senior Jack Van Kempen. Van Kempen finished fourth with a time of 24:09.3, claiming a personal best time, which also earned him All-NSIC First Team Honors. Van Kempen also came home with an additional honor, being names the 2024 NSIC Men’s Cross Country Outstanding Senior of the Year, which is an award voted on by the league coaches.

For the women, junior Elizabeth Vanloon ran her own personal best, finishing 30th with a time of 22:17.4. She was also named the 2024 NSIC Elite Award winner for the second time this year.

UMD will race next at the NCAA Central Regional on Saturday, November 9th in Joplin, Missouri.
