With the state playoffs coming this week, it’s award season for prep soccer, and three local players were recipients.
Duluth Marshall’s Denzel Majwega and Briar Mrozik were named to the first and second all state rosters, respectively.
Majwega’s first team recognition isn’t much of a surprise, as he was second in the entire state with 30 goals.
Mrozik became an all around player for the Hilltoppers this year, netting 15 goals and 14 assists on the year. The Hilltoppers begin their state tournament journey on Wednesday against St. Cloud Cathedral.
Tadi Taguta of Grand Rapids was also named to the first team. Taguta becomes the first player Grand Rapids player since 2010 to receive the honor. Taguta tallied 7 goals and 5 assists on the season, helping the Thunderhawks to a 10-4-5 season, which was ended last week in an overtime heartbreaker.
