UMD appoints Nat Wagner as next head softball coach
Wednesday the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) abruptly announced the hiring of a new head softball coach in Nat Wagner.
He steps in for Lynn Anderson, who led the Bulldogs for three seasons. They finished last year 41-15, giving Anderson an overall 120-44 record which included one NCAA DII tournament berth.
The University did not state a reason for her departure. They only confirmed to WDIO’s Alicia Tipcke that Anderson is no longer UMD’s head softball coach and, after they conducted a search, Wagner is.
Wagner has a wealth of coaching experience. He spent the last two seasons as a defensive coach at the University of St. Thomas, helping them transition from a DIII to DI program. His over-decade long resume also includes three years as head coach at Minot State University, and three years as an assistant coach at Augustana University.
