UMD baseball bested by Wayne State on Friday doubleheader
On Friday, the UMD baseball team couldn’t get the job done against Wayne State, falling in game one, 6-0 and game two, 4-3.
In game one, UMD fell victim to a slow offensive game, as they tallied just four hits.
Wayne State put up three separate innings of two runs, in the third, fifth, and sixth.
In game two, the story seemed to be much of the same, as Wayne State would put up three runs in the top of the third, but for the first time, UMD’s offense would strike back, as Gabe Richardson would drive in a run in the bottom of the 5th.
In the 9th, the Bulldogs made it interesting, as Michael Gabbard singled and Gabe Richardson hit a sac fly to cut the lead down to 4-3, but UMD couldn’t finish the job.
The Bulldogs next get a crack at a win on Saturday against Wayne State.
