UMD baseball suffers loss to Winona State in return to Bulldog Park
A homecoming wasn’t enough to lift the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) baseball team past Winona State Wednesday as they fell 7-1 in game one, then 10-9 in the 11th inning of game two, in a doubleheader at Bulldog Park. The games marked UMD’s first matches at Bulldog Park since May, 2021, with the team playing most of their home games at Wade Stadium.
In game one, UMD’s Sam Kliber recorded one run and one hit, while Ethan Cole tallied one hit. On the mound, pitcher Cade Kleba threw five strikeouts in in 4.2 innings pitched for the Bulldogs.
In game two, Gabe Richardson led UMD with two runs, two hits and three RBI, including a two run homer. Trevor Gustafson added one run, three hits and one RBI. Zach Kuseske and Ethan Cole each recorded four strikeouts in 2.1 innings pitched for UMD.
The Bulldogs (16-25) next visit the University of Minnesota Crookston for a doubleheader Saturday at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
