UMD baseball can't hold off Concordia-St. Paul

The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) baseball team’s struggles continued Tuesday as they dropped a pair of games to Concordia University, St. Paul. The Bulldogs fell 12-7 in game one, then 11-7 in game two of their doubleheader at Wade Stadium.

In game one, the Bulldogs led early scoring six runs to the Golden Bears’ four in the first five innings. However, they allowed eight runs in the sixth and seventh inning to give up the lead. UMD was led by Jack Nemetz with two runs, three hits and two RBI.

In game two, Concordia held the lead the entire game scoring five runs in the first three innings. The Bulldogs would mount a comeback coming within two after the eighth, but it wasn’t enough. The Bulldogs were led by Oran Hinkle with two runs, three hits and one RBI, and Nemetz with one run, one hit and two RBI.

UMD (16-30) next hosts the University of Mary for a doubleheader Friday at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. at Wade Stadium.
