UMD basketball teams splits tight matchups with MSU-Moorhead
On Friday evening, UMD men’s and women’s basketball battled Minnesota State University Moorhead, but only the Bulldog women would find victory, whereas the Bulldog men would fall in close one-point matchup.
For the men, despite a late-game resurgence, MSUM would overcome the Bulldogs 68-67, ending UMD’s five-game win streak. UMD would be lead in points by Joshua Brown with 21 points, followed by Charlie Katona with 12 points, and Austin Andrews with 10 points. MSUM was lead in points by Carson Johnson and Jacob Jennissen with 12 points, followed by Shaun Wysocki with 13 points.
For the women, UMD would snap a six-game slump, defeating the Dragons 63-61. UMD would be lead in points by Lexi Karge, who tallied 17, followed by Maria Counts with 10 points, and Vanessa Bickford with 9 points. MSUM would be lead in points by Ashton Safranski who would tally 22 points, followed by Natalie Jens with 18 points, and Abby Berge with 10 points.
