UMD football dismantles SMSU on homecoming
The UMD football team focused on defense in the days leading up to Saturday’s contest with Southwest Minnesota State, and that proved to be beneficial, as the Bulldogs took down the Mustangs 62-0 on homecoming.
Despite the high scoring offense, it was the defense which was truly on display, holding SMSU to 77 total yards.
The defensive side of the ball got started hot, as Jacob Mogensen registered a pick-six on the first defensive drive of the game to give the Bulldogs the quick lead.
UMD’s offense was also very efficient, registering 484 yards, with 255 on the ground and 229 through the air.
The biggest weapon through the air was DaShaun Ames, who registered 128 yards and two touchdowns on just three receptions.
UMD heads to Augustana next Saturday for a 1:00 kickoff.
