The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) football team was the preseason favorite to win the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) this fall, but they have since struggled to meet expectations. They currently sit 3-4 with four weeks remaining in the regular season. While any playoff chances are crumbling, that hasn’t diminished their positivity.

“Our team hasn’t had their head down. We haven’t complained and pouted. We haven’t had guys that have divided and kind of done their own thing. All that stuff has been really positive. Again, we’re 11 points right now from being in a completely different spot in our football season, so I think we’re a good team. We’re going to face a good team this weekend and getting a win this weekend, we feel pretty good,” head coach Curt Wiese said.

“Really, we just all come together as a team. These are our brothers, we love one another. So we just come back to practice with our mindset, focus on the next week, on how we can get better, how we can do this, do that. So we just all high hopes, that’s it,” junior defensive back Tyron McCoy added.

The Bulldogs dropped their third straight game on Saturday falling at the University of Sioux Falls 24-21. UMD returns to Malosky Stadium for the second to last time this season hosting Minot State University on Saturday, October 26. Kickoff is at noon.
