UMD football relying on both sides of the ball in upcoming road matchup
The UMD football team had an equally impressive showing on offense and defense this past week, but with a heavyweight battle between UMD and Augustana this week, both sides of the ball are going to have to be on their game.
“They’re going to be coming out firing, coming off the loss. They want to get back in the win column for sure,” said Sam Pitz, a graduate tight end. “It’s going to be a playoff game for both teams, probably whoever doesn’t win this game won’t make the playoffs. So they’re definitely going to come out firing. They’re always a physical defense. Seen them on film all year. Super physical play, they play the same defense we’ve been playing. So we’re excited to kind of scheme them up and get going.”
“Top teams can beat bottom teams, and bottom teams can come up and sneak up on some of the top teams”, said Head Coach Curt Wiese. “So not that we’re anticipating anything different this week, but you’ve got to be competitive every week. If you’re not right now, you’re going to have a chance to beat.”
The 3-1 Bulldogs kick off against the 2-2 Vikings on Saturday at 1:00.
