UMD football to celebrate Reed Ryan by retiring jersey on Saturday
UMD football enjoyed a bye week last week, after a week one win against Northern Michigan.
Not only will this Saturday be their home opener, but also military appreciation day, and the day they honor late-teammate Reed Ryan, who passed away last November, by retiring his jersey.
“He’ll be the first UMD football player to have his jersey retired when, deservedly so. Reed was a tremendous teammate and good football player for us and was a guy that always led by example,” said head coach Curt Wiese. “Those are things that we will remember from Reed Ryan. Saturday afternoon before the game, we’ll have a chance to retire his jersey, honor his family and also honor the EMS’ family and the medical staff that’s been around and helped through that. “
UMD kicks off against MSU-Moorhead Saturday from Malosky Stadium at 2 p.m. Ryan’s jersey retirement will come prior to kickoff.
