UMD men’s basketball ends historic season in Elite Eight
As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end.
Tuesday the No. 6 University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men’s basketball team saw their historic NCAA Division II tournament run come to an end in the Elite Eight falling to No. 3 Black Hills State University 86-68 in Evansville, Indiana.
Drew Blair and Charlie Katona led UMD scoring 16 points, while Black Hills State had two players break 20 points with Matthew Ragsdale leading the game scoring 25 points. For the full box score, Click Here.
UMD finishes the season 26-10.
The Bulldogs made their first-ever Elite Eight appearance after winning their program’s first NCAA game to open the Central Region. UMD also became just the 13th school in DII history to send both of their programs to the Elite Eight the same season.
The No. 2 UMD women’s basketball team won their program’s first Elite Eight match Monday in their second ever Elite Eight appearance. They will now tip-off their first-ever Final Four game Wednesday against No. 6 Catawba College at 6 p.m.
