UMD men's basketball survives one point thriller, women's can't keep up with Concordia St. Paul

Romano Gymnasium was the sight for some UMD men’s and women’s basketball on Saturday against Concordia St. Paul, however, the Bulldogs split outcomes, as the men’s team won 88-87 but the women’s team lost 86-61.

The men’s game was a back and forth battle for the entire game, but the Bulldogs were able to get a stop on the last play of the game and prevail. Austin Andrews led the game with 29 points, while Charlie Katona added 22 and Joshua Brown had 16.

The Bulldogs turn to take on Southwest Minnesota State on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

As for the women’s team, they stuck with the Bears in the first quarter, but were outscored for the other three, including a 53-28 deficit between the second and third quarters. Lexi Karge led UMD with 16 points, while Johanna Miller was the only other Bulldog in double figures at 10.

The Bulldogs will try to bounce back against Southwest Minnesota State on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
