The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men’s team has had a bit of a tough go as of late, dropping their last three games. But they aren’t hanging their heads yet, and have plans to turn things around.

“Our fans’ support has been awesome. So yes, it’s nice to get back home, it’s nice to have that extra boost. But at the same time, the game happens between the lines and our guys seem to, our staff and our guys, really need to focus on the details. Finishing plays, finishing games, taking care of the ball. So if we can get back to doing what we do a little bit better. Again, I love our guys, I love where we’re at. We got everything we need in this locker room to win, we’ve just got to be a little bit better,” head coach Justin Wieck said.

Undefeated at home so far this season, the Bulldogs will look to tap into that home-court advantage to turn things around. This would be just the time to do it too, as they host two Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) foes and are still seeking their first conference win.

“We’ve had our struggles with both teams in the past and we got to just come out and play our game. If we defend and make shots that we know we can do, we’ll be perfectly fine. But it’s all going to start on how much energy we have coming into this weekend,” fifth year forward Charlie Katona said.

UMD first tips off Friday at 7:30 p.m. against Augustana, then they host Wayne State Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at Romano Gym. They’re also staying home Wednesday, December 18 hosting Winona State at 7:30 p.m.

“You don’t get many home court games during the season. And like last year, we had most of our season was on the road. So being able to be back here and play in front of our fans here, it’s awesome,” Katona added.
