UMD men’s hockey ends 2024 with win against Bemidji State
In a year where UMD men’s hockey fans felt the ups and downs, the Bulldogs gave them a final win, by beating Bemidji State 4-2.
The game was off to an odd start, as a hit on the glass shattered one of the boards, resulting in the game going into a delay.
When play picked up, Jayson Shaugabay was the one to find the back of the net, giving the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead just five minutes before intermission.
A Bemidji state goal minutes into the second period tied the game at 1-1, but Aiden Dubinsky gave the Bulldogs another lead at 2-1. The Beavers tied things back up at 2-2 before the periods end though.
In the third, Owen Gallatin and Harper Bentz scored for UMD to solidify the win, putting them into the new year with a 6-10-0 record.
UMD next takes the ice on January 3rd against the University of Alaska Fairbanks, with a 7:07 p.m. puck drop.
