UMD men’s hockey falls short in overtime against St. Cloud State

On Friday, the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men’s hockey team clinched the seventh seed in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC), despite falling to St. Cloud State 3-2 in overtime.

17 minutes into the first period, UMD’s Zam Plante would start the scoring off for the Bulldogs.

Halfway through the second period, Anthony Menghini would increase the Bulldog’s lead to 2-0. With 2 minutes left in the period, St. Cloud would get on the board with a shot from Nick Portz.

In the third period, St. Cloud’s Josh Zinger would tie things up at twos. The score would remain 2-2 through the end of the third period, giving both teams a conference point and bringing the game to overtime – the third game in a row to go into overtime for the Bulldogs.

St. Cloud would strike on the power play to take home the win, 3-2.
