UMD men’s hockey falls to Northeastern in OT in Kwik Trip Holiday Face-Off
On Thursday the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men’s hockey team would drop game one of the Kwik Trip Holiday Face-Off in Milwaukee falling 4-3 to Northeastern in overtime.
Ben Steeves scored first and Blake Biondi added a power play goal to give UMD a 2-0 lead after the first period. The Huskies would tie it up in the second, but Owen Gallatin would give the Bulldogs back the lead. Northeastern scored midway through the third period, then again early in OT to win the game 4-3.
This marks UMD’s (5-9-4) first game since December 9. They’ll next play the Air Force for third place in the Holiday Face-Off Friday at 4 p.m. at Fiserv Forum. Northeastern and Wisconsin will meet in the title game at 7:30 p.m.
