UMD men’s hockey lands goalie from Lakeville out of transfer portal

A new goaltender is making his way to the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD). Freshman Ethan Dahlmeir is transferring from Miami University (Ohio) men’s hockey to the Bulldogs for next season.

Dahlmeir comes in after UMD netminders Klayton Knapp and Zach Sandy each entered the transfer portal.

It will be a bit of a homecoming for the Lakeville, Minnesota native who, in 2021, helped Lakeville South to the Class AA state title game.

Last season with the RedHawks, Dahlmeir started 13 of 34 games posting a .870 save percentage and 4.04 goals against average. He previously spent one season in the USHL, and two in the NAHL.

The 21-year-old will likely battle incoming freshman Cole Sheffield for the backup role behind Adam Gajan.
