UMD men’s hockey previews first ever matchup with Stonehill
It’s not too often the University of Minnesota Duluth men’s hockey team gets to face a team they’ve never seen before, but that is the case starting Friday.
Stonehill c=College is making their way AMSOIL Arena this weekend. They’re in just their third year as a Division I program. UMD Head Coach Scott Sandelin is a big proponent of matchups like these.
“I was told by a number of people you shouldn’t play them,” said Sandelin, “I’m like, I really don’t care what those people think. I think it’s important for us to play those teams. They want to play. So that’s why we scheduled it. I don’t know, watching them a little bit last night against Lake State. Another older team is going to come in here and work. So it’s like I told the guys, you know what, everybody’s good in college hockey. Anybody can beat anybody.”
The Bulldogs will fight to snap a three game losing skid over Stonehill.
Puck drop tonight is 7:07 p.m. at AMSOIL Arena. Their series finale is Saturday at 6:07 p.m.
