UMD men's hockey protects home ice, shuts down #10 St. Cloud State

UMD men’s hockey hasn’t lost to St. Cloud State at AMSOIL Arena since March of 2022, and that streak continued on Friday night, as the Bulldogs took down #10 St. Cloud State 2-0.

Neither team could find an advantage until deep into the second period, when Aaron Pionk sent a shot on net, and Max Plante tipped it in, his third goal of the season and first since coming back from winning a gold medal for the United States in the World Junior Classic.

With a 1-0 advantage late into the third period, Owen Gallatin sent the Huskies home as he buried a shot with just under 30 seconds left in the game.

Klayton Knapp shut the Huskies out, stopping all 28 shots that came his way.

UMD and St. Cloud meet again on Saturday at 6:07 p.m.
