The University of Minnesota Duluth soccer team returned to the pitch on Monday for their first official practice of the 2023 season.

The Bulldogs are coming off an 8-7-3 season, where they finished just one spot short of the NSIC playoffs.

Still it was their best finish and league record since 2017 campaign.

“It is a step towards what size step do we want to take this year? Players have to come up with that approach, that plan. Of course, leadership is important to that, I think that the motivation of doing better last year only will spill into this season,” said head coach Greg Cane.

To facilitate the growth this season and to push the team over the edge, the squad looks to lean on 5th year captain Sarah Stange to lead the way.

“We still have like the core group of girls that helped us find those wins and get us that far. So just continuing to like bring on the new players, playing well together, communicating will help us continue to build,” added Stange.

The team kicks-off the season August 31st on the road against Northern Michigan.
