UMD softball holds Minot State scoreless in doubleheader sweep
The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) softball team held Minot State University scoreless in a pair of home games Thursday. The Bulldogs earned 2-0 then 6-0 wins in their Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) doubleheader at Malosky Stadium.
In game one, Elle Potts recorded UMD’s sole RBI also adding two hits. From the circle, Allison Luoma threw two strikeouts in four innings, and Lauren Dixon dealt one strikeout in three innings while not allowing a single hit.
In game two, the Bulldogs were led by Kat Burkhardt with one hit and three RBI, and Nicole Schmitt with two runs, one hit and two RBI. Dixon threw eight strikeouts in five innings while only allowing two hits.
UMD improves to 37-14 overall and 18-8 in NSIC play. They close out their regular season Friday hosting UMary for a Senior Day doubleheader at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. at Malosky Stadium.
