The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) softball team dropped game one to Bemidji State University (BSU) Tuesday but won game two to split their Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) road trip.
The Bulldogs fell in game one 1-0 but took game two 4-2. BSU had tied the Bulldogs 2-2 in the 7th forcing extras, but a double by UMD’s Kat Burkhardt in the 8th inning brought home two runners to secure the victory.
After being named NSIC Pitcher of the Week for the second straight week UMD’s Lauren Dixon threw 12 strikeouts in the first game.
The Bulldogs improve to 25-8 on the season. They’re scheduled to host their home opener Saturday battling Upper Iowa University in a doubleheader at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at Malosky Stadium.
