UMD softball suffers doubleheader sweep to St. Cloud State
The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) softball team suffered a doubleheader sweep at the hands of St. Cloud State University Tuesday in Duluth. The Bulldogs dropped game one 6-4 and game two 13-4 at Malosky Stadium.
In game one, UMD was led by Emma Ambroz with one hit and two RBI, and Khendal Johnson with one run, one hit and one RBI. Proctor native Maddy Walsh came in as the Bulldogs’ relief pitcher throwing four strikeouts over 4.0 innings.
In game two, UMD scored all four of their runs in the fourth inning to trail 9-4, but allowed two runs in both the sixth and seventh innings. The Bulldogs Noelle Krumrie posted one run, two hits and one RBI, while Taryn Christopher had one run, one hit and two RBI. From the circle, UMD’s Allyssa Williams started throwing two strikeouts in 3.0 innings.
The Bulldogs now sit 28-14 overall and 8-6 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) play. They next visit Minnesota State University, Mankato Saturday, April 12 for a doubleheader at 12pm and 2pm.
