UMD softball win 5th NSIC title, beat Augustana 9-0
The University of Minnesota Duluth won their fifth NSIC title on Saturday topping the Augustana Vikings 9-0.
The Bulldogs bats were on fire in the game opening with a three run first inning, including a homer from Kat Burkhardt.
“Just a proud moment for every single player in our program. This is for Bulldog country and all of our softball alumni. I saw a ton out here today and it’s for everybody. Everybody played a role in this so it’s a special feeling,” said head coach Lynn Anderson.
This is the fifth ever NSIC Tournament win for the Bulldogs, the first since over two decades ago in 2002.
“Honestly, it’s all kind of a blur. I just remember just being pumped and the team coming out around me, like it was just it was just more like a euphoria feeling than anything. So just seeing that and knowing that we we all came through on all cylinders was a really cool moment,” said winning pitcher Lauren Dixon.
The team now has an automatic bid into the regional tournament.
