UMD Tennis falls short in first home NSIC matchup against UMary

The University of Minnesota women’s tennis team hit their home courts for the first time since February 8th, this time to battle NSIC foe UMary.

UMary would make quick work at one and two doubles, taking both of those matches 6-0. Despite a tough fought third doubles run for Carly Chaney and Olivia Honsey, UMD would miss out and fall in a set tiebreaker 7-6 (7-3).

In singles, Olivia Honsey would be the solo win for the Bulldogs, sneaking out a 1-6, 7-5, 10-6 win at the six singles position. Olivia Gorton would come close at five singles, losing in a third set tiebreaker, 3-6, 6-4, 3-10.

DOUBLES –
1. Luana da Silva and Courtney Eppen fall to Chloe Chong Zhi Jing and Ilona Freitag, 6-0
2. Sydney Friedrich and Izzy Simon fall to Maria Estinvil and Anna Sueflohn, 6-0
3. Olivia Honsey and Carly Chaney fall to Valeria Bradley and Luba Moyo, 7-6 (7-3)

SINGLES –
1. Luana da Silva falls to Chloe Chong Zhi Jing, 6-1, 6-3
2. Carly Chaney falls to Ilona Freitag, 6-3, 6-1
3. Sydney Friedrich falls to Maria Estinvil, 6-1, 6-2
4. Izzy Simon falls to Anna Sueflohn, 6-0, 6-2
5. Olivia Gorton falls to Valeria Bradley, 3-6, 6-4, 3-10
6. Olivia Honsey defeats Luba Moyo, 1-6, 7-5, 10-6
