UMD volleyball continues undefeated start with two wins at Up North Preseason Tournament
Another year for head coach Jim Boos and the UMD volleyball team is on the horizon, as the Bulldogs were selected to finish 5th in the NSIC.
The UMD volleyball team has yet to meet an opponent that matches their skills, as they rolled to two wins on Friday in the Up North Preseason Tournament, beating 20th ranked Michigan Tech 3-0 and Northern Michigan 3-1.
Against Michigan Tech, the Bulldogs were able to keep their distance for the entirety of the match, winning all three sets by a wide margin (25-19, 25-13, 25-19). The Bulldogs also were effective while serving, tallying seven aces to Michigan Tech’s one.
Against Northern Michigan, it was more of the same, as UMD cruised to the first two set wins (25-15, 25-18). In the third set, the Bulldogs fell 28-26 after an intense back and forth battle. Finally, UMD put the match away, winning the fourth set 25-16.
The Bulldogs now move to 6-0, and round up the Up North Preseason Tournament on Saturday against Findlay.
