The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) volleyball team served up their season just the way they hoped, picking up wins in all four of their games at the Ferris State Invitational last weekend.
“Early on we were a little sluggish, we were a little sloppy,” head coach Jim Boos recalled. “The stats and the results of that first match kind of show that. Even early in that second match we weren’t particularly sharp. Then something clicked and they started to get the offense rolling. That’s really what we want our identity to be, that serve receive side out and transitional offense.”
Boos added, “it just showed with the experience we have back, this team is capable of being very competitive again.”
Their 4-0 start moved them up one spot to number seven in the national American Volleyball Coaches Association DII poll.
Additionally, Kaylyn Madison was named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Defensive Player of the Week. She averaged 5.64 digs per set for 79 total over the four matches.
