Wednesday the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) women’s basketball team touched down in Dallas.
Then Thursday the NCAA Division II national championship bound squad got settled into title town. They posed for media day photos, toured the Texas sized facilities, then got down to business tipping off practice at the American Airlines Center.
“What an awesome time our team has been having so far in Dallas,” head coach Mandy Pearson said. “Once we found out that we had made it here they just wouldn’t stop talking about Dallas and getting down here. It definitely has exceeded the expectations, we’re having a blast, we’re really excited to be here.”
“The way the salut event went it was awesome just to be with all the other women’s basketball players here. Being able to be in their presence was just really fun and uniting,” graduate forward Brooke Olson shared.
The Bulldogs will host a closed practice Friday then watch the Division I Final Four between Louisiana State University (LSU) and Virginia Tech, and the University of Iowa and the University South Carolina, also at the American Airlines Center.
Saturday the DIII title game is first, then at 2:30 p.m. UMD takes on undefeated Ashland University fighting for their program first DII national championship.
