Not long after being named the HCA 2025 Julie Chu Rookie of the Year, the University of Minnesota Duluth women’s hockey team’s own Caitlin Kraemer has another accolade to add to her name.

The freshman center has been named USCHO Rookie of the Year for the 2024-25 season, becoming the first Bulldog freshman to earn the honor.

In her first season of collegiate play, the Ontario native led all freshman nationally with 18 total goals, including two shorthanded goals. She also ranked second with seven power play goals and four game winning goals. Kraemer totaled 31 points, 18 goals and 13 assists, in 39 games.

Kraemer was ranked third in scoring for UMD this past season and was also awarded the Western Collegiate Hockey Association’s 2025 Rookie of the Year Award – becoming the third Bulldog to ever earn the honor. The freshman tallied the ninth most goals in the WCHA for the season and ranked third in power play goals in the WCHA.
