UMD’s Drew Blair named to Bevo Francis Award watchlist
16 games into the season the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men’s basketball team has only lost four games to sit 12-4. A run that impressive doesn’t come without a leader, who is now getting national recognition.
On Tuesday graduate guard Drew Blair was named to Small College Basketball’s top 100 watchlist for the Bevo Francis Award.
The award goes to the player with the strongest season, taking into account statistics, team success, and personal character.
Blair is shooting just under 45 percent from the field and averaging over 20 point per game. Blair also broke his single-game scoring record posting 34 points December 19 at MSU-Mankato.
Small College Basketball will reduce the watchlist to the top 50 on February 15, and the top 25 on March 15. The overall winner announcement date is yet to be determined.
