UMD’s Gallatin signs deal with Fort Wayne Komets
Local news, sports, weather presented by the WDIO News Team
The University of Minnesota Duluth men’s hockey team’s own senior defenseman Owen Gallatin has inked a deal with the Fort Wayne Komets this past week.
The Komets are the ECHL (formerly the East Coast Hockey League) affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Edmonton Oilers. Gallatin and the Komets have agreed to an amateur tryout period.
Gallatin skated for the Bulldogs for four seasons, and in his senior season, he tallied four goals and eleven assists for a total of 15 points for UMD.
The defenseman is now skating with the Komets but has yet to register a point.
