UMD's Gascon named WHCA Goaltender of the Year semifinalist
A hockey team is only as good as their goaltender, which makes the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) women’s hockey team very good, thanks to Ève Gascon’s rise to stardom.
Gascon is now being nationally recognized, becoming one of nine goaltenders to be selected as a semifinalist for the Women’s Hockey Commissioners Association (WHCA) 2025 National Women’s Goalie of the Year award.
The sophomore owns the fourth-highest saves percentage of any goaltender on the watch list, at .924. She has five 40-plus save games and two shutouts this year, plus six wins against top eight teams in the country.
The winner will be announced in March during the Frozen Four.
