UMD’s Karlsson takes home WCHA Defender of the Week award
Three assists was big for Ida Karlsson, who took home the WCHA Defender of the week award.
The #6 UMD women’s hockey teams defense showed up this weekend, splitting an away series with the #2 Wisconsin Badgers.
Ida Karlsson was a big reason for those wins, as she was named the WCHA Defender of the Week.
While the award is for a Defender, it was Karlsson’s offensive game which helped her win the award, as the freshman had her hand in all three goals on Sunday, registering a season high in assists with three.
Karlsson was part of a defensive until that kept the Badgers scoreless on six power play attempts Sunday and a total of eight over the weekend.
The Bulldogs travel to St. Cloud State next weekend to take on the 8th ranked Huskies.
