UMD's Sam Pitz earns AFCA DII All-American honors
On Wednesday, the University of Minnesota Duluth’s (UMD) Sam Pitz was named a Division II First Team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association. The graduate tight end becomes just the ninth Bulldog in program history to earn AFCA DII First Team honors.
Pitz also earned a D2CCA Football’s Super Region 4 First Team Offense nod this season, and his fourth Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference First Team All-Conference selection.
In 11 games this year he posted 360 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Pitz averaged 10.9 yards a catch and 32.7 yards per game in 2024.
