UMD's Wieck signs four year contract extension

In a world of ever-changing collegiate sports, with players and coaches leaving their schools at the drop of a hat, UMD men’s basketball was able to secure one of their biggest pieces for the near future.

On Monday, Justin Wieck signed a four year contract extension that will have him on the Bulldog sidelines until the 2028-29 season. Over seven seasons, Wieck has amassed a 142-58 record, earning a .710 winning percentage. That currently ranks him 10th among all active coaches in NCAA division II men’s basketball.

Wieck has helped secure three NCAA tournament bids and four NCAA tournament wins, including the program’s first NCAA Central Region Championship and appearance in the 2023 Elite Eight.

He has coached three all-Americans, two NSIC players of the year, one NSIC defensive player of the year, one NSIC freshman of the year, and 15 NSIC All-Conference award winners.
