Wednesday morning the Superior softball team received a fittingly large and spirited sendoff to their state tournament.
The Spartans are heading back to Madison, Wisconsin for the second straight year, this time entering with a jaw dropping 25-0 unblemished record.
“This is only the fifth time in the school’s history that the girls have made it to the state tournament,” head coach Mike Sather shared. “We did go last year, so I think the team as a whole is a little more business like because they understand when you get down there that one game and it’s over. So we’re a little more focused.”
Senior catcher Emma Raye added, “if we play our best we’re going to be hard to beat. Having that experience last year is just going to give us an upper hand.”
The Spartans earned the two seed and will first battle number seven Menomonee Falls Thursday at 8 a.m on Madison’s Goodman Diamond. The Division 1 state semifinals are at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Friday with the title game set for Saturday at 6:30 p.m. For the schedule, Click Here.
Superior finished in the state semifinals last spring.
