Up North: Black Beach Mini Golf celebrates two-year anniversary
Silver Bay and the surrounding area are known for its Black Beach, Shovel Point, Tettegouche Trail and so much more. However now mini golf has entered that conversation.
It may have been pouring over the weekend but that didn’t stop minigolfers from heading to Silver Bay and grabbing a putter at Black Beach Mini Golf.
A fun filled establishment that was celebrating their two-year anniversary on the North Shore.
“We opened in 2021 and last year we did a first-year anniversary tournament, and we got a lot of support from the community. A lot of people came out and we’re going to hopefully grow and get bigger and bigger every year,” said owner David Klemmer.
Both novice and professional categories were put on full display for the free to the public tournament. With some participants even sporting the good ol’ Scottish golf regalia.
“The course is super nice and a good addition to the community. It’s a lot of fun to come down here, my kids walk from my house down here,” claimed participant BJ Larson.
“David and Ashley do an awesome job, it’s wonderful. I got three hole-in-ones. It was a little wet so that kind of hindered us, but it was fun. We had a good time filled with lots of laughs,” added Silver Bay resident Angie Hoff.
Year two was a test to see if the event can still bring a crowd, and it did just that even in with the wet conditions.
Spurring the event to now become a tradition taking place the second weekend in August every summer.
So, if you want to snag next year’s trophy and prizes now is the time to hit the putting green.
“Come out and practice ahead of time and learn the little quirks of the course because there are some tricks out there. Although we’re not going to tell you them all today,” concluded Klemmer.
