UWS baseball splits doubleheader with North Central in first home game
The UWS baseball team returned home for the first time in 22 games, and split a doubleheader with North Central, falling 3-2 in game one but winning game two 10-0.
The Yellowjackets got out to a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning, when Peyton Steiner brought home Noah Dagostino for the first runs of the game.
Isaac Fugere would then send one to left field, and the Yellowjackets would take a 2-0 lead.
North Central began their comeback in the seventh, tying the game at 2-2, and then took the lead in the top of the 9th with a sacrifice fly.
UWS couldn’t respond, falling in game one.
In game two, UWS wasted no time, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning. In the next inning, they would take on four more runs, and in the bottom of the sixth, invoke the 10 run mercy rule.
UWS will look to win the series on Sunday against North Central at 12 p.m.
