UWS men's basketball wins UMAC opener to snap 7 game skid

The University of Wisconsin-Superior (UWS) men’s basketball team snapped a seven game losing skid Wednesday holding off North Central 89-87 in Superior. The game also marked UWS’ Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) opener.

The Yellowjackets led 42-39 at halftime, and despite being outshot 48-47 in the second half, held on for the win. Reid Johnson led the game for UWS with 33 points, while Joey Barker added 25 points.

UWS (4-8) next visits Bethany Lutheran Saturday, January 11 at 3pm.

The UWS women also defeated North Central at home on Wednesday, winning 71-55. MyKenzie Leccia led the team with 15 points. Now 5-7 overall they also visit Bethan Lutheran Saturday. Tip-off is 4:45pm.
