UWS falls to UW-River Falls in game 2 and Mini-game of WIAC playoffs

It was not a night to remember for UWS men’s hockey, as they fell to UW-River Falls 2-1 twice, both in game two of their WIAC series and in a 20 minute, winner-take-all mini-game.

In game two of the series, the Yellowjackets didn’t generate any useful offense for what seemed to be the entirety of the game, until Sam Brennan scored with just over a minute left in the third period to cut the Falcons deficit to 2-1. However, the Yellowjackets couldn’t muster up another goal triggering the mini-game.

In the mini-game, the Yellowjackets again found themselves down 1-0, but this time were able to retaliate before the end of the 20 minute period. However, they once again gave up a goal, this time with just a minute left to play.

The Yellowjackets now need to hope for an at-large bid in order to make the NCAA tournament, or else their season is over.
