UWS men’s hockey hands #2 CSS first loss of season, winning Superior Showdown
The University of Wisconsin-Superior men’s hockey team got their revenge against #2 Saint Scholastica on Saturday night, beating the Saints 3-2 in overtime.
The Saints would strike first, as Tristan Shewchuk found the back of the net for the early advantage.
The Yellowjackets were with CSS step for step though, as they’d tie the game at 1-1 thanks to a Tristan Therrian goal in the second period.
Brodie Girod of CSS put the Saints ahead in the third period, but again it was UWS who clawed back, as Daniel Roszival net the equalizer to send the game to overtime.
There, Jordan Guiney beat the goaltender for the game winner, handing CSS their first loss of the year.
The Yellowjackets will be back in action Friday, Jan. 12 when they host Gustavus Adolphus, and CSS is back in action on January 5th against Concordia.
