UWS men’s soccer displays unstoppable offense in mega win over Northland
A stunning effort on both sides of the ball led the University of Wisconsin-Superior (UWS) men’s soccer team to a 14-0 shutout win over Northland College Wednesday night at the NBC Spartan Sports Complex in Superior.
It all started with Nicolai Stokker goal off a penalty kick at 2:50 to put UWS up 1-0. Then one minute later Elis James doubled their lead to 2-0. By halftime the Yellowjackets had taken a 5-0 lead, then piled on nine more goals in the second half.
At the end of the night, Ethan Barker walked away with a hat-trick netting three goals. Theo Figueiredo, Kyle Massingham, James and Stokker scored two goals each, while Cloquet native Elijah Aultman, Orlando Fertleman and Joel Thomas each scored one.
Northland keeper Rodrigo Chavez recorded 17 saves.
UWS earns their fifth straight win and improves to 5-0 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play. They now hold sole control of first place in the UMAC standings. Now 6-2-2, UWS will next visit Martin Luther Saturday, October 5 at 4:30 p.m.
Northland (0-8) next visits Bethany Lutheran Saturday, Oct. 5 at 3 p.m.
