The University of Wisconsin-Superior men’s soccer program hit the pitch for the first time this season on Saturday afternoon.
They are entering the year looking to bring the city of Superior an eighth consecutive Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Championship.
Leading the way to that unprecedented goal will be head coach Joe Mooney.
“I think that the way we finished the season last year, a lot of our guys feel like there’s a lot of unfinished business. So I think it’s really been trying to find that balance. We left on a pretty good foot, I thought we were playing some some really good soccer at that point of the year however we are really going back and starting from the beginning,” added head coach Joe Mooney.
This year Mooney is entering his 16th season on the Yellowjackets sideline.
“Really trying to cover our bases, get back to some fundamental stuff but I think that there’s also sort of this charge that we can kind of get through a lot pretty quickly and hopefully get back on that same level early in the season,” concluded Mooney.
The squads first preseason exhibition match is August 25th against Division II Northern Michigan.
