UWS Men’s, Women’s soccer NCAA tournament opponents revealed
The soccer scene in the UMAC conference has been dominated by the UWS Yellowjackets, with the women winning their third straight championship and the men winning their 7th in a row.
But now, it matters even more, as the NCAA tournament is on the horizon. For the women, they have UW-La Crosse on their agenda, and the men will face off against St. Olaf.
“I think it’s a really good matchup,” said Joe Mooney, UWS Men’s soccer head coach. “I think there’s a similarity in the playing style between the two teams. And really, I just think our team right now is playing at a really good clip and so I like our chances. I think if you ask our guys, they would tell you the same.”
For the women, head coach Allison DeGroot is excited for her team to get back to the action.
“I’m super excited about it. We know La Crosse is one of the best teams in the nation, and so we know it’s going to be a tough game, but we’re ready to be tested and we’re ready for that next level of competition.”
The men kickoff the round of 64 on Saturday at 11 a.m., and the women won’t take the pitch until 1 p.m. on Saturday.
