Wilson’s hat trick lifts UWS women’s soccer to shutout win over Northland

Niya Wilson netted a hat trick Wednesday as the University of Wisconsin-Superior (UWS) women’s soccer team shut out Northland College 5-0 in both of their Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) openers.
Wilson, a Superior native, scored the sole goal of the first half at the NBC Spartan Sports Complex, then opened the second half scoring off a penalty kick. Kamryn Hill and Allison Alessi also tallied goals.
LumberJills goalie Elysabeth Lough made 14 saves on the night.
Picking up their first win the Yellowjackets now sit 1-2-2. Next they visit UW-River Falls on Saturday. Northland (1-4) will visit Bethel University on Saturday.
