April 14: Windy and wet

Slick start to the week with mixed precipitation moving through the region all day long.

Light rain has been crossing the Northland overnight with the potential for a few isolated rumbles of thunder not ruled out. Winds are pushing in from the northwest allowing for surface temperatures to fall in the early morning and blustery gusts will stay the strongest along the North Shore until tomorrow afternoon.

As we look ahead into the start of this week the continuing precipitation will switch to light snow across northern Minnesota and the northwest quadrant of Wisconsin. The areas of highest accumulation will be seen along the Arrowhead and the South Shore with the potential to exceed three inches of these wet flakes at the highest elevations. Many will just see a slight dusting further inland by this evening.

A winter weather advisory is ready to go into effect as the incoming gusts of winds will likely be swirly snow about reducing visibility and road conditions could be slick at times tonight.

Mild conditions will resume for the rest of the week with normal temperatures and a round of showers slated for Thursday overnight. Sun will be back in action for any spring and easter celebrations.
