December 19: Snow sticks around for today

A cold and snowy day in the Northland as many will receive 2-6 inches of snowfall over the course of today.

 A large clipper has started its trek across the Northland this morning as 2 to 6 inches of snow is expected to fall over the course of today. Some areas along the Lake Superior shoreline and the I-35 corridor will expect more as lake effect precipitation continues into Friday morning.

Temperatures will stay in the mid-teens for tomorrow and overnight lows will drop to single digits and cooler air moves in behind the snow.

As we look ahead to next week, temperatures will rise back t the upper 20s and mid 30s and chances for snow continue to fluctuate.

Snow. High near 21. Breezy, with a southeast wind 10 to 15 mph becoming northeast in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 4 to 6 inches possible.

Tonight

Snow likely, mainly before midnight. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 4. Blustery, with a north wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Sunny, with a high near 14. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Partly sunny, with a high near 16. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Partly sunny, with a high near 23. South wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

A chance of snow, mainly before noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 29. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.
