December 27: Fog before the rain showers

It is another foggy morning, but later today rain will move in keeping conditions dreary and overcast for the end of the week.

It is another foggy morning for the Northland as visibility remains below a mile across the Twin Ports and at the tip of the Arrowhead. Some light rain and freezing drizzle will be mixed in for the morning ahead of the widespread showers to come.

Moderate rain will come across northern Wisconsin mid-morning before continuing up to northern Minnesota this afternoon. By Saturday morning there will be at least a quarter to three quarters of an inch of rain around the region.

Highs will stay in the upper thirties and low forties today and tomorrow before working their way back down to the mid-thirties on Sunday. This is roughly 15 degrees above normal for the end of December. As we move into next week, the cold air will return in time for the new year. Lake effect snow will start up again by Tuesday night bringing fresh snow to the South Shore for early January.
